CardSharp provides high quality strategy articles and book reviews – all targeted at players looking to improve their poker game. In particular, I focus on material appropriate to beating the mid-stakes limit and no limit variants found in US casinos. While this information may well apply to other venues, limits, and games, that is where my experience lies. In addition, I’ll provide trip reports from my travels and my thoughts on various other poker related topics.

My approach throughout CardSharp is to develop poker concepts from first principles as one would in an academic discipline. This stands in contrast to much of the poker literature which provides “systems” for playing various games without explaining why certain plays are correct. I put more emphasis on the “why” than the “how” – I hope this leads my readers to think more deeply about the game.
